Montreux is gorgeous at any time of year. At the eastern end of Lake Geneva, the town hosts the Montreux Jazz Festival each July, which sees top musicians from all over the world jet in and perform. From late spring until autumn, the lake is great for water sports, the Alps offer plenty of walking routes for all abilities and the local microclimate ensures that the air is warm all day.

Winter Sports

The hills around Montreux have some of the finest winter sports areas in Europe. Leysin has over 60km of pistes ranging from 1300m to 2200m and snow machines for when it’s just too darn sunny to snow! There is a snow park, spectacular views and a direct link with Les Mosses – La Lécherette.
Villars, Les Diablerets and Chateau d’Oex are all nearby and the high alpine resorts are also within reach, with Zermatt just 2 hours’ drive away.
You can rent equipment locally, so whether you are an experienced skier or boarder, or just a newbie, Montreux is a great place to take the to the snow!
Christmas market

Montreux’s Christmas market is lovely. The smell of roasting chestnuts, the moon glistening on the dark lake at night, the warming feeling of a cidre chaud… you’ll soon fall in love in the chilly winter air. A huge range of stalls offers everything from handmade soaps to winter clothes.
In 2011, the market runs from November 24th until December 24th.

The school is situated just a couple of metres from the shore of Lake Geneva. On a clear evening, you get a truly spectacular sunset over the lake: a kaleidoscope of oranges and purples as the sun dips between the mountains.
