Student stories November 6, 2014

Dear Formal Co-Workers,

Finally, after more than 3 months here, I decided to take times to share my first Canadian steps with you. The hot news should have been sent a few weeks ago but then Steve is arrived… The good thing is that after the Steve’s coming, the update had been increased a lot, so that’s better for you. In fact, he has been here for 5 weeks (he’s already back in Switzerland) and when we think about what we did, it’s like if we spent 3 months together.

So, how is Vancouver…?

This town is incredibly wealthy in activities People are kind, easy-going, helpful & sport enthusiasts. The city is neat, super organized to traveling by bicycle and the landscape leave you speechless. In short, I feel really good in this corner of the world.

Three months after the big step,

I spent my first month in a Filipinas Homestay Family to take my marks and to define my next shelter, which was pretty good. Even if I slept in the room with the lowest ceiling ever. I started my three first months at school with some business classes as Marketing, Media, Advertisement, Business Writing, Communication and so on. Which were really powerful I am still amazed by the high skills of my teachers. Badminton is still my landmark (mamamiiiaaaa how the level is high). I also enjoy climbing and kayaking in town.

I live in a lovely house  with two roommates (Saudi Arabian and Canadian). What a perfect location outside downtown, with a sweet neighborhood and close of two community centers. Over 20 Community Centers are in Vancouver where you can do over 30 sports every week with one card (included Swimming pool, SPA, Ice Rink & Gym) We should follow this healthy model.

Since three weeks, I am registered in a Cambridge Advanced Mastery Class and this for the next 8 weeks with the purpose to pass my exams on June 7th. It’s tough !

After a few conversations in Switzerland with some of my Bobst Canadians buddies, I hoped tons of snow Which wasn’t the case. Unfortunately, the snow forecast wasn’t with me this year and I wouldn’t be able to spend this huge amount without the right conditions.

Nonetheless, your awesome gift (thanks again) will give me the possibility to explore deeply the West Coast of Vancouver. By West Coast I mean an indescribable backpacker’s trip to Anchorage and then to Honolulu this summer with my brother between the end of my school and the beginning of my work in July.

Just a teaser of what we plan to do near Anchorage.

Today is an Historic Day for ma Gap Year

Finally, my working visa application has been accepted. Which one will give me the possibility to work legally in Canada until the end of December 2014. Thereby, I will be able to finalize my different interviews.
